It began with the desire to create the mature superhero tales that I wanted to read: ones that dealt with character relationships, legacies, and rich worldbuilding. As someone who has spent a large part of his life living in or near small towns, it seemed natural to me to make the setting for the flagship books in this public domain universe be a series of fictional small towns in New York. These towns are populated with beloved characters from Victorian and Depression-era literature, many of whom I have given superhero personas and/or powers.
